The meeting was called to order by President Larry Barr at 12:10 PM.
Mike Sanchez led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Announcements
President Larry Barr reminded the club about the 100th Anniversary Dinner to be held on Friday, May 16th at Swank Farm. He asked all members to reserve the date. More details will be announced at future meetings.
Larry also reminded the club of the District Conference to be held at San Jose State University for one day on May 31, 2025. More details to follow.
Bill Baker gave a short report on his attendance at the Far West Presidents Elect Training Seminar (PETS) at the San Jose DoubleTree Hotel, March 7-9th. Bill reported he was impressed with the speakers and the speech by Rotary International President Elect, Mario de Camargo who talked about the importance of increasing the membership of Rotary. Bill said it was in line with his vision of increasing the membership of Hollister Rotary during his year as club president. He also said he was impressed with the people he met from our Rotary district, 5170, because it contains talented people of Rotary clubs from South Oakland thru Silicon Valley to Watsonville. He thanked the club for sending him to PETS and looks forward to his year starting July 1, 2025.
Larry Barr told club about the how a former Interact student applied for a global grant from Rotary International to attend Oxford. She was approved for a $30,000 grant.
Raffle by Dave Baumgartner:
Bryan Yamaoka had the winning ticket for the small pot of $129. Bruce Beetz selected a card and did not draw a winning card but received a bottle of wine.
Bryan also had the next winning ticket for the large pot worth $196. Bruce also drew a card for Bryan, and did not select a winning card but received another bottle of wine.
Detective:
The detective for this meeting was Bob Rogers. Bob asked questions about the history of Hollister and sports.
Bob Tiffany was asked what was the first name of Hollister? It was San Justo and Bob paid $5.
Mike Sanchez was asked why they changed the name to Hollister. Mike paid $5 to learn it was because there were too many towns already with San in the name.
Phil Fortino was asked how did the name Hollister come about? The answer was William Hollister who gave the town his name. Phil paid $5.
Changing to football, Bob asked Bill Baker what was John Brody's number and where did he go to college? Bill had the correct answers, Stanford and number 12 but paid the $5 fine.
Chang So was asked who gave the name to Lucy Brown Lane? The answer was William Hollister in honor of his sister. Chang also paid $5.
Alex Kingman was asked how many students attend Hollister High School. Alex was fined $5 because the correct answer was 3,400.
Gen Hopp was asked to name the highest mountain in San Benito County. Gene paid $5 to learn it is San Benito Mountain, 5,200 feet.
This was Bob's first time as detective, and he did great job.
