This event is in its 39th year. It is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hollister and all proceeds go to benefit local scholarships and charities. 2021-2022 President Rich Holdaway
Each July 1st a new President takes the helm for a year. Please welcome our newest President of the Rotary Club of Hollister.

Richard Holdaway has been in the construction industry since his youth. Growing up in Gilroy, he started young as an apprentice to his father’s Electrical Contracting company. After serving a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he returned to the industry. He spent six years as a project manager/superintendent for large home building companies. Needing change in his life, he pursued an opportunity to work for a large catering and property management company in Sweden. He rose through the ranks quickly, eventually standing as Logistics Construction Manager. For nearly 10 years, he held his position and watched that company grow tremendously. Richard is married to Sissela Holdaway. They have three kids, Enya (18), Eli (16), Eila (8). He is bilingual in Swedish, a member of the Hollister Rotary, a member of San Benito County Chamber of Commerce, Captain of the local Bearded Villains Chapter (a charity organization), and an active member in his church. He is an Eagle Scout and a Certified General Contractor. He loves working out and spending time with his family.

Hollister Club Proudly Sponsors Stuff the Bus

The Rotary Club of Hollister is once again a proud supporter of the 2021 Stuff the Bus event, which is a backpack and school supply program put on by the United Way of San Benito County. In addition to a $2500 sponsorship of the program, the Rotary Club of Hollister hosted a Hot Dog and Water Give Away to the participants. Approximately 600 hot dogs were served free of charge to the participants and their families.

Many thanks to the Rotary crew that worked the Hot Dog give away event. Thank you to: Chang So, Dan Weatherly, Phil Fortino, Gene Hopp, Jayme Stewart, Esther Curtice, Helen Dunsten, and Larry Barr.

District 5170 Wheelchair Project 2021-2022
Greetings Fellow Rotarians!

We are excited to share the details of District Governor Richard Flanders’ District Wheelchair Drive with you!

As you know, Rotary plays a big part in providing wheelchairs around the globe and we have the chance to make an even bigger impact. The District has a goal of $84,000, however, we are getting a $1 for $1 match from generous contributors, David Behring and Don Routh, so our goal is cut in half!

By the numbers:
2 cities in Mexico
1 container per city
280 wheelchairs per container
560 wheelchairs in total

560 opportunities to make a BIG difference in someone’s life through mobility!

We invite you to be part of this great humanitarian effort. Here’s how:

1. Inspire your fellow club members and others by sharing the wheelchair video on our District website.  Warning... it’s a TEARJERKER!

2. Email them the following flyer so that they can individually sponsor via PayPal:  Wheelchair Sponsorship form - PayPal

3.  Do some prefer to pay by check? We’ve got you! They can use the attached "Wheelchair Gift Acceptance Form".

4. If your club would like to sponsor as a group, please let Brenda Swiney or Amy Neuman know!  We’ll note your club’s commitment and work with you on getting the sponsorship completed.

5. THE BEST PART!  You can travel with the District to deliver the wheelchairs and personally give mobility to someone who needs it! We are planning two trips, one in March and one during the summer to increase your chances of participating.

We are collecting funds through April 8, 2022.

Please contact Brenda or Amy if there are any other questions.

We look forward to your participation!
