Leslie said BenitoLink does not have an agenda and the objective is to just report the news and be a service to San Benito county.  The publication was founded in 2012 after listening sessions held by the San Benito Community Foundation.  After having small office space in the SB Community Foundation, they have now moved to their new location 615 San Benito St. Suite 201 where they have more office space.

Mo Ismail, Marketing and Development Coordinator, provided us with some analytics about BenitoLink:

172,000 viewers per month
58,000 regular visitors from the same device
135,000 social media hits per month

Noe Magana, Content Manager and Staff Reporter,  told us they cover 40 different government meetings each month, and the county hospital.  They also have a high school internship program to get students involved in public relations.  Noe said their mission is to report the facts without bias.

Leslie concluded by telling is about the support from the Monterey Peninsula Foundation and how it has helped provide the growth for BenitoLink.  She said other sponsorships are available for areas they want to cover like sports and high school activities. She reported their current budget is $500,000.

Leslie answered questions from the audience about topics they would like to see covered in BentiLink and about how important it is to fact check what is stated by interest groups.
