The meeting was called to order by President Rich Marcus. at 12:15. Jim Pleyte led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance. Greg Laforge gave the Thought for the Day.
Announcements:
Larry Shaw reported we would have three groups to golf today at Ridgemark Golf Club. The first tee time is 2 PM.
Byran Yamaoka reminder everyone about the San Benito County Rodeo June 28-30th. Bryan asked members present to put their names and times they are available to volunteer at the Rodeo.
Raffle by Dave Baumgartner:
Raffle winners were Jim Pleyte, drawing for $89, and Phil Fortino drawing for $121. Both did not pick a winning card.
President Rich announced this would be his last meeting as president of the club. He will be out of the country on vacation in Italy, Malta and Greece for the next three weeks returning in July. Rich thanked the club for their cooperation and support during the last year and said he really enjoyed his time as President of Hollister Rotary Club. He received a loud round of applause from those present.
Larry Barr, president-elect, will fill in for Rich for the next three weeks.
Detective:
BillTiffany was the detective for this meeting. He began by presenting President Rich Marcus with a check to the club for $40,000 for Mission 10. No fine for Rich.
Next Bill presented Dave Baumgartner with a dead basketball for Dave's persistent comments about Bill's basketball shots when they played together in school and afterwards. Dave also paid $5 fine.
Bill asked Gordon Machado about his new tenant, a dry-cleaning business. Gordon was fined $5 but happy to pay it for a 5 year lease and new paint job from his new tenant.
Bill asked for any NY Yankee fans, and Bruce Beetz received a $5 fine for raising his hand.
Bill asked Kyle Sharpe two questions: 1) who he predicted would win the NBA finals? Kyle picked the Celtics in six. 2) what is the cost of a ticket to the finals in Boston? Answer $4000. Kyle paid a $5 fine.
Alex Kingman was asked who in the club was an astronomer, realtor, and basketball player in high school. She paid $5 for the answer, Dave Baumgartner.
Phil Fortino paid a $5 fine for correctly answering a question about past 49er players.
Chang So paid a $5 fine to name a club member who is a wine expert, barrister, and likes touring. Jim Pleyte.
Harvey Blodgett was fined $5 for not knowing that June was Men's Health Month.
Greg LaForge was fined $5 for not knowing that June 3 was national bicycle day.
Larry Shaw was asked what was faster, a horse or a bicycle? He paid $5 to learn a bicycle is faster.
Bill Baker was asked what country has more bicycle riders, China, Netherlands, or US? He said Netherlands and was correct but fined $5.
Gene Hopp was asked what country has more bicycles? He was fined $5 for the correct answer, China.
Bill finished by telling how jockstraps were made by the Bike company.

Board of Director's Meeting Report:
The board voted at their May 20th meeting to increase the lunch fee to $23 effective July 1, 2024. The fee is composed of $18 for the meal, $4 for the room rental, and $1 for the raffle. Members who do not have lunch will pay $5, $4 for room rental, and $1 for the raffle.
The $1 increase goes toward the weekly raffle pot to offer higher payouts.
