Meeting Held at Paine's Restaurant
Attendance: 22 Rotarians and 1 guest
Visiting Rotarians: Tami Aviles, Rotary Club of China Town, San Francisco who will be transferring to Hollister Rotary Club.
Meeting:
The meeting was called to order by President Larry Barr at 12:15.
Doug Moore led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Bill Tiffany gave the Thought for the Day.
Announcements:
Larry Barr asked past president Rich Marcus to come forward. Larry presented Rich his new Past President badge and a plaque with a gavel recognizing Rich's term as president of the Hollister Rotary Club. Rich then thanked the club for their cooperation and support during the past year. Rich received a standing ovation after his remarks.
Larry asked Bryan Yamaoka to give an update on the results of the Saddlehorse Show and Rodeo. Bryan reported that we will probably net $9,000 after the unsold beer is returned. This result was lower than in previous years and could be the result of competition from another vendor selling beer, and the new VIP area that provided beer and cocktails to members. Bryan thanked all the members and quests that came out to volunteer their time for the event.
Larry informed the club that the board had approved a $2500 donation to the United Way of San Benito in support of the Stuff the Bus event. Stuff the Bus will be on Saturday, August 3rd from 9 to 11 AM in the Target parking lot. We will need volunteers to help distribute hot dogs and water to the kids.
Larry announced that new District 5170 Governor, Jill Duerig, will be visiting our club on July 29th. Jill will be the program for that meeting.
Larry also announced that a Ceremony of Life for Past Rotary International President Richard King will be held on February 2, 2025 at the Blackhawk Car Museum.
Larry told the club that a Hollister Rotary Board meeting will be held after our meeting today.
