This Week's Program

The program for this meeting was a presentation on the San Benito Stage Company by Anne Hall.

Anne said the stage company does 4 shows each year.  The shows are for actors by age ranges so young people can participate and learn and prepare for shows with other age groups.

The San Benito Stage Company was founded in 1999 as ab amateur theater and Anne got involved in 2006 to introduce her daughters to theater.  The company offers opportunity to actors and non-actors to participate in putting on a show.  Non actors learn stage management, set design, and production planning.  Actors get the experience of performing in front of audiences.

The company also holds a summer camp for kids from ages 6 to 13 and it is well attended. Kids get to create a show and perform in it.

The biggest issue for the stage company is having a permanent venue.  They have been using the high school facilities during the summer but need to find other locations during the school year.  They may have found a home in the Penniwise building and are considering the changes needed to use it as a theater.

The next show this year will be in May, Moana Jr.

Memberships are available from $40 to $300, and Sponsorship levels are available from $150 to $5,000.  Anne asked us to consider supporting the San Benito Stage Company.

Thanks Anne, for the presentation and making is aware of the great things the stage company does for the community.
