Chas Croslin of El Teatro Campesino will speak about their summer show “Popol Vuh: Heart of Heaven,” which will be performed in San Juan Bautista and, for the first time, in Hollister. The show is a free, family-friendly outdoor pageant that tells the Mayan story of creation with large-scale puppetry, colorful costumes, stylized dance movement, and dynamic live music. It is a wondrous live theatrical experience for viewers of all ages performed by a multi-generational and multi-ethnic company of performers comprised largely of local community members. Chas will talk about the show, it’s creation and staging, and how it connects to the greater body of work of El Teatro Campesino. Finally, Chas will be joined by San Juan Bautista Rotarian Phil Esparza, longtime producer and member of the Board of Directors of el Teatro Campesino to wrap up the discussion with a brief look at other upcoming events at ETC and a question and answer session.
