Welcome to the Rotary Club of Hollister's weekly bulletin!

This is the bulletin for our meeting on Monday, Monday February 5, 2024.

Meeting Highlights:
The meeting was called to order by President Rich Marcus at 12:15 PM.  There were 25 people in attendance.
 
Rich Marcus led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Mike Sanchez gave the Thought for the Day.
 
Guest of Rotarians:
 
Stacie McGrady was introduced as a guest of Rich Marcus. Also, Justin McGrady, son of Stacie.
 
Alex Kingman, a prospective new member.
 
Announcements:
 
Rich presented the Rotarian Humanitarian Award to Bob Tiffany for his brother Bill Tiffancy.  Bill, late to the meeting, appeared and was able to receive the award.  Bill thanks the club for the recognition but wanted everyone to know that Mission 10 is a "team effort" and he thanked everyone for their support.
 
Rich annoucned that our meeting on Monday, February 26th will be at Ridgemark in the Freemont Room. The program will the high school speech contest.  Larry Barr and Mike Sanchez will conduct the contest.
 
Rich reported that in the board meeting it was discussed that we need a social media coordinator. Rich asked if any member would like to take this responsibility to see him.
 
Raffle
 
The raffle ticket for the small pot was held by Harvey Blodgett.  He did not pick a winning card.
 
The raffle ticket for the $78 pot was held by Kristina Wyatt She did not pick a wining card. 
 
Detective
 
Robbie Thedford was our detective.  He had trivia questions about prior Super Bowl winners and losers.  He also had questions about Spartan obstacle raie acing. Most people did not know the details and paid $5.  Robbie raised $50 and we enjoyed learning the answers to his questions.
 
This Week's Program
 
The program was presented by Stacie McGrady foreperson on the San Benito County Civil Grand Jury.
Stacie was proud to server on the grand jury and has been a resident of the county for 20 years.  She reviewed the role of the civil grand jury and how one can become a member of the grand jury.  She also reviewed the requirements for membership.  She reviewed the final report that the grand jury submits at the end of its one-year term.  Sample reports were available for review.
 
Members of the grand jury are volunteers but can also be subpoenaed by the court. All proceeding are secret until the final report is published.

NEXT WEEK'S PROGRAM
 
The next meeting is on Monday, February 12th at 12 Noon at Paine's Restaurant. 
 
Eric Taylor will be updating us on his recent visit to the US Southern Border. He will share with us what he saw and learned about the conditions at the border.
