Hollister Rotary Supports San Benito County Spelling Bee and Awards Winners with a Kindle

The San Benito County Office of Education hosted the annual San Benito County Spelling Bees, on Tuesday, March 1st for the Elementary (grades 4-6) and on March 2nd for the Junior High (grades 7-8). As usual, the events were wonderful, with great audience attendance and nail biting spelling by the 25-27 finalists each night.  The final two contestants in each Bee went round after round until finally a final winner was determined.  Both of the first place winners went home with a Kindle donated by the Hollister Rotary.  The first through fourth place winners were awarded trophies, and the first two places will go on to represent San Benito County at the State Spelling Bees.  The State Elementary Spelling Bee will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the San Joaquin County Office of Education in Stockton and the State Junior High Spelling Bee will be held on Saturday, May14, 2016 at Miller Creek Middle School in San Rafael.
